10 Books to read in 2023

This year I am setting a goal of reading more. I've sat down and compiled a list of 10 books I want to read in 2023 and I think you should too. These books are great for entrepreneurs and people who are looking to advance in life and their careers.

Here is my list of 10 books you need to read in 2023:

1. The Power Of Habit

The Power Of Habit: Why We Do What We Do In Life And Business is the first book on this list because it is the first book I'm reading this year. I'm only a few sections in and I have found myself entrenched and attached to the information.

"At its core, The Power of Habit contains an exhilarating argument: The key to exercising regularly, losing weight, being more productive, and achieving success is understanding how habits work. As Duhigg shows, by harnessing this new science, we can transform our businesses, our communities, and our lives."

2. The Dropout Multi-Millionaire

The Dropout Multi-Millionare is a must-read for 2023! We all dream of making a million dollars. In this book by Brian Will, we will cover 37 business lessons to help us achieve that elusive goal.

"Ultimately, your success or failure is dependent on your ability to accept your weaknesses, put aside your ego, and learn to become who you need to be to succeed."

3. The 48 Laws of Power

I first came across this book from a Twitter account that shares excerpts and quotes to their feed. Each point has made sense to me and I want to make sure that this is a book I read this year.

"In the book that People magazine proclaimed “beguiling” and “fascinating,” Robert Greene and Joost Elffers have distilled three thousand years of the history of power into 48 essential laws by drawing from the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, and Carl Von Clausewitz and also from the lives of figures ranging from Henry Kissinger to P.T. Barnum."

4. How to Win Friends and Influence People

This is a classic read that everyone who has ever wanted to get better at getting what they want should read. I've read this book once already but should read through once more to refresh my skills.

"Dale Carnegie’s rock-solid, time-tested advice has carried countless people up the ladder of success in their business and personal lives. One of the most groundbreaking and timeless bestsellers of all time, How to Win Friends & Influence People will teach you:

-Six ways to make people like you

-Twelve ways to win people to your way of thinking

-Nine ways to change people without arousing resentment"

5. Good to Great

This bestseller is made to help business owners take the next steps to take their business from good to great. This is on my list because I'm ready to make the leap with my marketing agency.

"Built to Last, the defining management study of the nineties, showed how great companies triumph over time and how long-term sustained performance can be engineered into the DNA of an enterprise from the very beginning."

6. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Another classic book that every entrepreneur and career person should read. Adding this book to my list was a no-brainer since we all know how crucial effectiveness can be for business success.

"This beloved classic presents a principle-centered approach for solving both personal and professional problems. With penetrating insights and practical anecdotes, Stephen R. Covey reveals a step-by-step pathway for living with fairness, integrity, honesty, and human dignity—principles that give us the security to adapt to change and the wisdom and power to take advantage of the opportunities that change creates."

7. Turn Your Passions into Profits

Recently I announced that I am launching an online sock shop. That's because fun and creative socks have held a special place in my hear for years. This book will help me turn that passion into a successful e-commerce store.

"So many entrepreneurs either run a profitable business but hate their work or run a business they love, with a message they’re proud of, without making any money. There’s a better way to build a business, one that helps you wake up every day excited and full of purpose and make a profit."

8. 10 Laws of Trust

In every aspect of life, trust is important. It helps builds strong relationships and can help you land a sale.

"Trust is the glue that holds an organization together. It turns deflection into transparency, suspicion into empowerment, and conflict into creativity. With it, a tiny company like John Deere grew into a worldwide leader. Without it, a giant corporation like Enron toppled."

9. How Highly Effective People Speak

Communication is key. Speaking effectively and concisely is a valuable skill that can be learned.

"In How Highly Effective People Speak, you'll discover 194 communication habits of highly effective people (proven by 57 scientific studies)"

10. Shoe Dog

Nike is one of the most recognizable brands on the planet. As a marketer and business person if I can learn from the great Phil Knight then I am already better off than those that haven't.

"Selling the shoes from the boot of his Plymouth, Knight grossed $8000 in his first year. Today, Nike's annual sales top $30 billion. In an age of start-ups, Nike is the ne plus ultra of all start-ups, and the swoosh has become a revolutionary, globe-spanning icon, one of the most ubiquitous and recognizable symbols in the world today."
