Providing value

When sitting in a sales coaching class we were taught to lead with value and to provide prospects with value. This same principle translates to marketing as well which is why you'll see so many great resources for free but require your name, email, and phone number before you can get it. Want-to-be social media influencers, podcasters, and bloggers should understand this concept. No one is going to want to watch, listen, or read your content unless it provides some sort of value to them. That value can be anything from a free resource or guide to a provocative topic that sparks thought.


This principle goes for people looking for a job. Provide the interviewer some sort of value during the interview process to make yourself stand out. That piece of value can be anything that will make your name and resume stand out over the rest.
